Mari Jalava’s felt art has been exhibited at invited exhibitions in France, Germany and Iceland in addition to Finland, and she has taught felting in Belgium. Now you can learn this technique to create handsome felted accessories. This weekend course includes accommodation in attractive quarters at the Naaranlahti tourist farm on the shore of Puruvesi lake, surrounded by a tranquil natural environment. In the evening, you can enjoy the sauna and go for a swim or go for a relaxing walk in the forest. Or perhaps you would perform to take a rowboat out on the lake or have a picnic by the campfire in the evening? No problem!

Programme

Day 1 (Saturday) 10.00-17.00

Mari Jalava tells her story of entering the world of wool and gives an introduction to colour symbolism. Introduction to wools and fibres suitable for felting and to the tools used. Felting a three-dimensional, single-colour roundish “Onni” flower. A felt flower can be used as an accessory on clothing, in hair, on a hat, on a bag, anywhere. Even as a table decoration. We also learn how to felt a multi-coloured “Onni” flower.

DAY 2 (Sunday) 10.00-15.00

We learn how to felt a “Tuulia” flower, which has ornamental swirls in addition to petals. We also felt multi-coloured balls that are useful e.g. as additional decorations for flower arrangements. Finally, we can apply the skills learned to create flowers of our own design, experimenting with new shapes.
